  3. Winter design showcase tops last year

    Winter break arrives

I will be taking some time off to work on other projects as I did last year. I will post to the blog if something important happens, and I will keep updating the numbers as quickly as I can. See you in February.

    And the showcase features…

The entries are all in and I picked the five designs I thought really expressed the possibilities of winter realms in We Rule. If your entry wasn’t included, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. These just struck a chord with me for balance, symmetry and creativity.

Next year I will remember to promote this more than I did so more people will get a chance to participate but I appreciate every entry.

The entries were far more elaborate this year, but we had a lot more to work with too. Had more of the winter gifts showed up, we might have seen even cooler displays.

The design that truly stood out (and usually I prefer more organic designs) was the Christmas tree by Petra Kunzan (asdfcxy3). K1W. Her south realm is worth checking out as well.

Kevin Toh’s (storm738) dimensional kingdom conveys some creepiness when you realize how many skulls the goblins collected to build it. K2S
Michael LaSordo (ml411) built this slightly asymmetrical winter port city. K1SW

The skull posts in this winter realm shouldn’t be quite so surprising since this is Valhalla, Priscilla Tan (pristan65) contributed this design.K1South
Note the use of locks, rivers and waterfalls in Dagmar Sinden’s winter realm (dee14850). K1MW

You should check out Dagmar’s main realm, which is ready for Valentine’s day. Kevin Toh really went all out in his kingdom design, putting him up their with Jewingry for elaboration. One realm even extends way beyond the borders. I won’t tell you which one because so many are worth noting.

This is another one of those “how did he do it?” designs. Kevin extended elements far past the borders. I couldn’t even capture the entire realm with a screen shot.

    Mojo exhaustion

A number of players would have liked to see more from ngmoco:) than the hastily thrown together speedy gift event. I experienced more crashes than with any other event (losing several speedy gifts and one Woodman’s cottage from the gift cart). Many players were tapped out of mojo and ngmoco:) hasn’t offered a mojo sale for the last three events.

This, combined with the paucity of Christmas gifts in the gift cart (I got three in three weeks—even with boosting—and one disappeared with a crash) and the fact that several of the winter items could only be purchased with mojo. Carol barely finished one level of the event (as did many others).

I think I saw a couple of people with Santa statues, but I was cleaned out of mojo as well and for some reason the event didn’t appear on the leader boards. No one could keep track of how many gifts they captured and we have no event winners.

The timing of the event wasn’t ideal since many of us were away on vacation and couldn’t check in as often as we normally do. I didn’t visit several of my realms for several days in a row because of family obligations.

Usually ngmoco:) at least offers a super high returning building every two events, but the teddy bear shop and toy factory didn’t score any points in the record book.

Please, ngmoco:), please give us a rest from the constant barrage of new items and gifts, and please give us a mojo sale quickly. I suspect you will see a sharp decline in purchases if you don’t.

  4. Seasons Greetings

As the snow falls on your realms, may you find peace and also find the gingerbread house, sled shop and other items you missed in the after-Christmas giveaway in the gift cart.

At least, this was what I planned to post and then ngmoco:) released another event for Christmas eve. Many players have been cleaned out of mojo buy all of the mojo only shops and trying desperately for the promised bounty of gifts. (So far I’ve seen a sled shop and a holiday lamp). This may not have been the most well-considered release.

If the event follows the past you will need to collect one each of the teddy bears, one each of the rag doll, wind-up mouse and rocking horse, and one each of the toy soldier, dragon and nutcracker. That will be the first round. In the second round, you will need to capture, three of each teddy bear and two dolls, mice and rocking chairs but only each of the top tier items. Continue reading

  5. The Holiday Gifting Season Has Come To We Rule!

It’s holiday time in your Kingdom and that means snow, good cheer, food …. and gifts!

Open up your toy box and get ready to fill it with toys. A crazy toymaker has scattered Swift Gifts all over the Kingdom and you’ll need to act quickly to catch them all. You only have until Friday, December 31th at 10 AM PDT before they disappear forever. To participate in this limited time original event, follow these instructions.

Step 1: Place the Toy Box

Once you begin the “Toy Attraction” Goal, you can get your free Toy Box from the Shop’s Featured page. By placing the Toy Box in your Kingdom, you’ll unlock the “Speedy Surprises” Goal that asks you to capture three different Teddy Bear gifts and six different Toy gifts. Tap on the Toy Box and choose to set the Teddy Bear Lure or the Toy Lure.

    Remember…
    •    You can only place one Toy Box and it must be built in your main Realm.
    •    The Teddy Bear Lure brings only Teddy Bears and the Toy Lure brings only Toys.
    •    Swift Gifts only appear in your main Realm.
    •    Swift Gifts will disappear after 12 hours!

Step 2: Capture All Three Teddy Bears and All Six Toys

When the lure is complete, which takes 2 hours for a Teddy Bear and 4 hours for a Toy, a Swift Gift will arrive in your Kingdom. The gift boxes all look the same, but once you tap on one, you will see what’s inside. From here you’ll have two options: You can chase after the gift with the plain net (risky) or with the magic net (guaranteed catch). The magic net costs 5 Mojo for Teddy Bears, 7 Mojo for 2-star Toys, and 10 Mojo for the rare 3-star Toys.

    Remember…
    •    There are 3 different Teddy Bears and 6 different Toys to complete the event.
    •    The chance of seeing any particular Gift is random, with some being far more rare than others.
    •    All successfully caught Swift Gifts give XP/Coins as well as count toward your event progress.

Step 3: Send a Gift to a Neighbor

Don’t be a Scrooge! After you’ve caught a toy, send another one to a neighbor. A screen will appear and show you a selection of your most recently active friends along with some friends to be.

    Remember…
    •    You can only send one Teddy Bear or Toy to the same friend once every 24 hours.

Step 4: Earn the Teddy Bear Factory and Toy Museum

Once you catch all 9 Swift Gifts, you’ll unlock the Teddy Bear Factory and a new Goal. For the next Goal, you’ll need to appease 3 of each Teddy Bear, 2 of each 2-star Toy, and 1 of each 3-star Toy. It won’t be easy, but if you complete it, you’ll earn the Toy Museum!

If you need support with this event, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly support staff at http://support.ngmoco.com/. Thank you and good luck!

  6. Waiting for Santa

If you’re like me, you’ve been leaving space in your Christmas realm for all those gifts ngmoco:) announced for the gift cart last Wednesday. You may also be disappointed that it’s been almost a week and you still haven’t found one of those gifts.

In the past, ngmoco:) has spaced out the gifts they announced. The first one might not show up for a couple of days, the next for a couple more. But I have yet to see a single Christmas item. Moontown commented that she actually spent 80 mojo without receiving a single Christmas gift.

    Still waiting for

It’s possible that ngmoco:) is waiting for Christmas eve to start releasing gifts, or they may start earlier this week. Continue reading

It’s possible that ngmoco:) is waiting for Christmas eve to start releasing gifts, or they may start earlier this week. But I wouldn’t spend a lot of mojo trying to get them. If worse comes to worse, they will start showing up frequently after Christmas and you can stock them in inventory for next year.In fact, they may start pouring in by the dozen once Christmas has passed. 8. Winter’s coming

    Posted by

As winter content keeps pouring in, speculation has begun about a winter design contest to follow halloween’s design spectacular. I’ve checked ngmoco:)’s blog and Facebook site for information and found none, but that doesn’t mean their won’t be one.

Based on the Halloween winners, I should warn players that the ngmoco:) judges like gimmicky design tricks. I have nothing against mazes and halloween jack-o-lantern faces made with glowing jack-o-lanterns, but I do feel there is more to design than patterns. So, regardless of ngmoco:)’s plans, the Grimoire will be featuring it’s own winter design showcase.

Since there are plenty of realms available and plenty of winter decorations coming, this year I will ask for players to fill an entire realm with their winter design. The items don’t have to be exclusively winter related, but you stand a better chance of being featured if you add items we might associate with winter (e.g. Continue reading

  9. Slow down the push to mojo

The harvest feast is over and Zimidar won with almost 3800 delightful dishes cooked. I think Zimidar should also win the WRFF1 award because he’s been at the top of the leadership boards forever. He must also

    • be independently wealthy,
    • play non-stop 24 hours a day, or
    • have hacked into ngmoco:)’s server and created an unlimited supply of mojo

because he’s outlasted every player in the game and I can’t, for the life of me, imagine how else he does it.

Here are the top three leaders from the Harvest Feast. I thought it was difficult to catch two hundred. Think how hard they worked to collect in the thousands.

    Oh, wait. Continue reading

  10. Final Harvest Update

    Posted by

The building sale ends today, the harvest event ends Thursday morning. This will give you plenty of time to catch all of the trophies you need.I don’t know what’s going on with the statues. I’ve caught a dozen of the ruthless dinner rolls, ten pies and cranberries and still no dinner roll or cranberry statues. All of the statues deliver 2500 coins and experience every ten hours no matter how rare the item. But I can only verify that there are actually four statues, contrary to my earlier assumptions. But if people keep sending them, keep catching them. Maybe I’m wrong and you’ll unlock different statues.

    Plenty of themes

The good news is that you have plenty of holiday theme material to play with. Based on last years Christmas releases you should see a lot of new holiday items and there’s a good chance they’ll rerelease the items from last year (which should be affordable to players at lower levels).
